So here's the guy I most want to see live right now. The Fantastic Negrito is Xavier Dphrepaulezz and from the little I've read about him he's had one hell of a life with ups and downs and ins and outs of the music business. All that is well and good, but this version of him, is, well, fantastic. He merges gospel, blues, soul, R&B and just basic roots of all kinds with a certain palpable tension that is very much of the moment. It's raw and undeniable and as good as it is in studio form, from the videos I see on YouTube, it must be incredible to behold this dude live. It needs to happen soon before he gets too big and ends up in a giant venue. Maybe he can come play at a corner Cuban cafeteria.
