Something is Wrong With My New Music Gauge

This morning, listening to the new releases on Spotify on the way in, I felt like that which I hate. I felt like the old, nostalgic, stuck in the past folks who say things like "kids today don't know what good music is" or "they don't make them like they used to." Phrases I hate and ideas that are just not true for several reasons. For starters people that say this are usually stuck on Top 40 pop music and don't remember how to explore to find new music. But beyond this, they all seem to forget that there was crap in their day too. But I'm not going to rant against them, because this morning, for a brief moment, I understood them. I was them.
Kids Today
Maybe not this old.
As I heard the new releases, I just kept skipping stuff saying "No!" after a few seconds that revealed some dubstepish wah wah bullshit or some modern hip hop caricature. Granted, I was queuing some of it up knowing what I was getting myself into, but still, fuck you, Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea. Yes, directly, even though they weren't the only offenders. The whole affair just left me ready to Hulk smash, really. But hopefully, I'll find something of interest being released this week. I don't normally care what era my music discoveries are coming from, but I would like a balance and a sense that something worthwhile is still happening, currently. I'm sure I'm exaggerating, but still. In the meantime, BRMC says it best.
